Amidst this budget crisis, Rebekah has never forgotten the true mission of our schools – to create life-long learners who will be the leaders of tomorrow. It has been with this mission in mind that she has advocated for comprehensive early childhood and at-risk programs and smaller class size; so that we can not only identify and support our struggling students sooner, but also provide the one-to-one instructional time and strong foundation all of our children need to be successful in this changing economy.

As home to Motor City, Motown and several world-class universities, Michigan has a long history of ingenuity and innovation. Recognizing the importance of continuing to instill these qualities in our students and appreciating that all students learn and demonstrate their knowledge differently, Rebekah supports promoting and assessing student achievement using multiple measurements that address their problem solving ability, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
