Rebekah knows that if we are to reinvent our economy successfully, we need a strong, well-funded public education system. While she believes that we have many dedicated teachers, school officials, and support staff working to make our classrooms a safe, quality learning environment, she also believes that we must meet them half-way, investing in our schools, our children, and our future.

The Great Equalizer

Rebekah is committed to honoring public education as the great equalizer of our nation by continuing to invest in our early childhood, K–12 and higher education institutions. Her educational priorities include:

  • Providing an adequate and stable funding source for education by implementing fair and progressive tax policies that recognize the shift in our economy.
  • Reducing the disparities that exist between school systems.
  • Promoting early childhood education programs so that all children can start school ready to learn.
  • Supporting measures that would reduce class size so that teachers are better able to provide one-to-one instructional time.
  • Advocating for teachers’ right to strike and collectively bargain, earn a fair wage, and receive quality health care and retirement benefits.
  • Making post-secondary education affordable and accessible.
  • Keeping our schools safe, and promoting anti-bullying and anti-hazing policies.
