Rebekah knows that we must not only remove barriers to the ballot box, but also encourage previously disregarded groups to become more involved in the political process. That is why she has introduced legislation to repeal the “Rogers’ Law” every session since she was elected to office, ensuring that in this increasingly transient world, Michigan citizens and college students may maintain different addresses for voter registration and driver’s license purposes.

In order to increase voter accessibility, Rebekah has also proudly co-sponsored a bill permitting 16 year olds to pre-register to vote and legislation allowing voter registration applications to be submitted electronically.

At the same time, she has worked to make the absentee ballot process more open and efficient, sponsoring legislation allowing first-time voters to vote absentee and co-sponsoring a bill to allow citizens to vote absentee without stating a reason. Above all, she believes that as new technologies provide ever more accessibility, there is no reason any citizen should be impeded when trying to exercise his or her right to vote.
